We want to thank all of you who have supported us along the way- we couldn't have done it without you!
Also this week, Alexei & Channy head to France to perform as a duo at some music festivals, before returning home for our last shows of the summer, at The MN Zoo and State Fair's Heritage Square Stage. Both are great outdoor family-friendly events that will feature our full band.
TOUR VAN!!
Lastly, with the release of our new album, we will be touring around the region and now find ourselves in need of a van to go on tour - we're looking for a large mini van or a cargo van with seating for 6 people as well as all our music gear.
Anybody selling a van? If anyone you know has something that runs well and is interested in donating or selling it, please let us know at romadiluna@gmail.com
Progress & Play
-
June 15, 2010
Last weekend we had a "focus group" of a group of fellow musicians and critical ears to help us wrap up the final touches on our upcoming full-length release. It looks like it will be "unveiled" in the fall. Local artist, Jason Jaglo, is busy working on album art while the band gets ready for a summer of great-great shows.
The duo (Channy & Alexei) will be heading to France for a couple different festivals. We were introduced to the French audience by the wonderful people at the Sur Siene Festival in Minnesota. We are eternally grateful as it has always been my dream to perform in France. This will be our second time performing in France as a duo and we hope we can bring the full band next time.
Alexei and I saw the Carolina Chocolate Drops 4 or 5 years ago when the Wild Goose Chase Cloggers (wildgoosechasecloggers.org) opened up for them at the Cedar. That performance is embedded deep in my "amazing performance" section of my memory. We are way more than excited to open for them at the MN Zoo on August 27th, 2010 and to hear them again.
A great line-up at the State Fair this year. So many stages and so many choices...we'll be at the Heritage Stage on September 5 & 6 for the "After Sundown" series. We would love to serenade your Sate Fair experience!
Also wanted to thank the great people in Duluth and The Sound Unseen Festival! We had a real good time playing for you and dancing the night away at soul night.

Holidays 2009
-
November 20, 2009
It's been a busy one but 2009 is slowly coming to a close. Channy and I played back to back house concerts last weekend that went really well, so keep an eye out for more of these. Also, we're in the thick of recording our new full length album due sometime in late spring/early summer of 2010. We're also planning on having a Christmas EP available at our annual Holiday Show at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis. This will definitely be a limited print and if we don't run out of copies to sell at the Cedar then we'll take some over to the Electric Fetus record store and have them available there as well while they last.
Gotta run, stay tuned!
Love,
Roma

Howdy, we've received requests to post chord charts to some of our songs. Ideally, we wouldn't have to do that in the News/Journal section but this'll have to do for now. Enjoy!

Fall/Lay Low
-
August 13, 2009
Hey there,
This fall season Roma di Luna will be taking a break from performing in order to focus on our next studio recording and just taking it as easy as possible in general.
All the families of Roma di Luna band members will be happy to spend more quality time with their estranged musical partners (especially their babies) and I can now finally take up stick-widdling, the great American past-time.
Before we break, however, we have some exciting info to pass along:
1. Channy and Alexei Moon Casselle have been invited to take part in the ongoing Making Music series that is basically like an Inside the Actors Studio for musicians. We will be revealing our deepest, darkest secrets as well as displaying embarrassing childhood photos. Should be fun! For more info check out our Calendar).
2.We've already confirmed our X-Mas Eve Eve show again this year at our beloved Cedar Cultural Center so we hope you can make it to that special event as it will be our first performance in over three months.
3. Last but not least, in addition to working on our next full length album, we are hoping to also have a Christmas EP available at our holiday show and Channy and I are planning to collaborate with one of our dear friends and talented singer/songwriter for a stripped down home recording to appear at a time yet to be determined.
Well, that doesn't sound like too much of a break to me but it'll have to do for now.
All our best,
Roma di Luna
The Minnesota Beatle Project
-
July 17, 2009
...is a compilation that is currently in the works with the help of Vega Productions and McNally Smith College of Music featuring Beatles songs covered by Minnesotan-born or based musicians to help raise money for music and arts education funding in the Minnesota public school system.
We were asked to participate in the this wonderful project and will be covering a tune called 'I Will' which can be found near the end of the first side of the White Album.
Roma di Luna is honored to be featured on the same compilation with such wonderful acts as
Romantica, Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles, Jeremy Messersmith & Zak Coulter (Solid Gold), The Hold Steady, Suicide Commandos, and many, many more special guest to be announced.
This album should be available around the Holiday season via Best Buy and Target so be sure to help support this project!
Peace,
Alexei Moon Casselle

Y'all want some chord charts?
-
December 17, 2007
I noticed in the guestbook somebody mentioned wanting the chords to our songs. If anybody actually would like me to post some of the chord charts to our tunes I'd be happy to do so. I just want to have this request confirmed so I don't spend a bunch of time putting it on here for nothin'!

#6- Roma di Luna, Find Your Way Home
Husband-and-Wife duo Alexei and Channy Moon Casselle understand the value of simplicity. Though the sound is a little fuller and richer on Find Your Way Home than last year's debut EP Face of My Friends, it's just enough to accentuate the spare, haunting beauty of their music, a slightly modernized spin on traditional early-20th-century folk- the darker, more doom-laden side of that canon. Each of the Casselles writes and sings, and their talents complement each other well: Alexei, who performs with hip-hop-noir duo Kill the Vultures, brings an earnest growl of Roma, while Channy's beautiful, frail-sounding warble cuts through the songs like a winter wind.
